Legacy Taekwondo is led by Head Coach Lewis Houston, a 4th Dan black belt who first stepped onto the mats at the age of five. Taekwondo has shaped his life ever since, and he works passionately to pass on its five tenets to every student who walks through the doors of his dojang: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit.
Our aim isn’t simply to produce good fighters. It’s to develop true martial artists, from the inside out. We believe the discipline learned in the dojang should carry into every part of life; how you speak to people, how you handle setbacks, how you show up when things get hard, and above all, how you show respect.
Our training stays true to traditional Taekwondo. We adhere to traditional poomsae, and alongside this we draw on Ju-Jitsu techniques so that students build practical, well-rounded self-defence skills as well as strong technical foundations.
We also host regular sparring events with other clubs. Collaboration makes everyone better, and training against different styles and opponents is one of the quickest ways to sharpen your versatility and ability. Students are encouraged to compete, and we’ll support anyone who wants to test themselves.
We hold our students to high standards, and we won’t pretend otherwise. A black belt here isn’t handed out for years of attendance, it’s earned. We ask for your strongest effort because when you step out on that mat believing in your ability, that belief should be something you’ve genuinely built. If that’s the kind of training you’re looking for, you’ll fit in well here.
Everyone is welcome, whatever your age, ability or starting point. Our coaches are sharp, patient and genuinely invested in every student’s progress, so you’re in good hands from your very first session. More than anything, this club is a family, we train alongside one another, push each other on and celebrate every success together.
Whether you’re looking to compete, get fit, build confidence or simply try something new, come and join us.
